In today’s episode of disappointment with your nation we have :


  • The discovery that the Halliburton contract was for more than just putting out oil fires as was implied by the administration (a matter of emphasis, no doubt). The contract also covers oil production and sales. You know, production of that oil that belongs to Iraqis and that the administration keeps saying we won’t touch because it isn’t ours. The story from the BBC, so you don’t have to take my word for it.
  • The tidbit that the new civilian manager of Iraq, Bremer, used to be the managing director of Kissinger Associates and is considered one of Kissinger’s proteges. Ugh. Again, read for yourself at the U.S. Department of State.

I guess I should be grateful today’s list is only two items long. I don’t feel grateful, though. I feel sick and tired.
